The Nintendo GameCube Broadband Adapter was designed to enable either online play, or play over a Local Area Network (LAN), for specially designed games. As of April 2007, the only Nintendo GameCube games to feature online play, Sega's Phantasy Star Online series, are no longer being supported for online play. LAN play with compatible games will continue to work as normal.
Games must be programmed to use the LAN feature. At this time, three games are LAN compatible: Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, Kirby's Air Ride, and 1080: Avalanche.
Please note that the Nintendo GameCube Broadband Adapter does not allow you to "surf" the internet, and is only used for a connection to play games over a LAN.
